He was part of the first generation to study in the jazz department of the Mannheim University of Music. The tenor saxophonist Alberto Menéndez soon made an excellent name for himself - was and is a sought-after man in numerous formations - such as the Weather Girls, Uwe Ochsenknecht & Band, HR Big Band, and many others. Today he works as a lecturer at the local Joseph-Martin-Krauss Music School in Buchen and is no less in demand.

The Mannheim native celebrated his greatest success to date in the late 90s, when the salsa star and five-time Grammy award winner Eddie Palmieri hired him for his ensemble - as the only non-American! An extraordinary honor that not many people receive.

He is accompanied on his album by renowned musicians from the local jazz scene. He interprets his ballads with an expressive, hymn-like tone and fills his compositions with irrepressible expression. He is certainly one of the great tradition-conscious stylists in our country, who has role models such as John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and Chris Potter, but does not copy a style, but rather combines it with his own sound concept and his improvisational design concept and thus takes it to a new level promoted.
