You don't need drums. The sixteen strings of two guitars and bass are enough for the ATLANTIC JAZZ TRIO for spacious, soft, swinging jazz that goes beyond the clichés. The guitarists Garry Hagberg and Thomas Horstmann as well as the bassist Peter Schönfeld primarily set out to set standards.

Almost minimalistic figures initially accompany »My Romance«, and the first notes of »Stolen Moments« fall from the speakers like raindrops. But recourse to new music techniques is just one of many elements. At heart, all three are melodicists with a fantastic sense of dynamics and wide arcs of tension. It's hard to believe that the record »First Meeting« was actually created when the trio first met.

It seems as if three soulmates have met, the peculiarities combine so sensitively to create a complex sound image.
